Moving to another Tiledash
You can take what you have set up on one Tiledash to another one for the same Homey: from a Tiledash on your own server to tiledash.app, or the other way round. It also works as a backup of your setup.
You export a configuration on the old Tiledash and import it on the new one. Both are on the Account tab, in the card Move to another Tiledash.
What comes along
- Your dashboards with their tiles, layouts per screen size and settings.
- Your wall panels.
- Your themes, style presets, pictures, widgets and partials and test devices. Your own themes, widgets, partials and test devices need Pro on the new Tiledash.
- Your alert rules, energy settings and map choice, if the new Tiledash doesn’t have its own yet.
- Your recordings. They start again from the moment you import.
What doesn’t come along:
- Recorded history. It stays on the old Tiledash. Use Download your data there if you want a copy.
- Share links and paired screens. Make new ones; their keys never leave the old Tiledash.
- Items from the store. Install them again from the store.
- Your login and your Homey’s tokens. They are never in the file.
Export your configuration
On the old Tiledash, open Account → Account and choose Export configuration. You get a file named like tiledash-config-2026-10-11.zip.
Import it
- On the new Tiledash, log in with the same Homey account and connect the same Homey. Wait until its devices show up: Tiledash matches every tile to a device by the Homey’s own ids.
- Open Account → Account and choose Import….
- Drop the file in, or choose it.
- Tiledash shows what comes along. Untick the dashboards and wall panels you don’t want, and the parts under Also bring. What a chosen dashboard needs, such as its theme, comes along by itself and says so.
- Choose Import. When it’s done, Open takes you to each new dashboard.
An import only adds. Nothing you already have on the new Tiledash changes. If you import the same file twice, you get everything twice, with “2” after the names that were taken.
What can’t come along as it is
Before you import, What can’t come along lists everything that won’t come over as it was, with the reason:
- A tile whose device isn’t on this Homey any more stays behind.
- A setting that names something missing, such as a dashboard you didn’t choose or a device that’s gone, is emptied. The tile asks for it again.
- A partial you already have with another template keeps yours. The widgets that render it use yours.
- On Free, your own themes, widgets, partials and test devices stay behind, and so do the tiles that use those widgets.
- If the plan doesn’t have room for everything you chose, Tiledash says so before anything happens.
The import is all or nothing. If anything in it is refused, nothing is imported and nothing changes. Tiledash checks everything in the file the same way as when you save it yourself, so an altered file can’t get past those checks.
