What's new in Tiledash

Every release, newest first: what you can do now, what works better and what we fixed. Tiledash updates itself, so you have it all already.

  1. v0.5.12 new1 improved1 fixed

    New

    • Show energy and prices on a custom tile

Your custom tiles can now show what today cost, your electricity, gas, water and solar, this month's totals, the price now and the cheapest hours ahead, next to your devices' readings. The value picker has Devices, Energy and Prices tabs, folds devices under their room, and shows what every value is now.

    • Show energy and prices in a heading's summaries

A heading's summaries can now show the price now, what today cost, the solar made today or any other energy and price value, next to lights on and power use. Choose A reading… in the Add menu, then the Energy or Prices tab. A price is coloured by whether it is cheap or expensive.

    Improved

    • Search every tab when adding widgets and buttons

The widget picker and a buttons group's Add a button now search all their tabs at once, Other included, and each tab shows how many matches it holds. A tile's settings mark the tab that still needs something before you can save, and the line under the settings takes you there.

    Fixed

    • Partials show in full in their previews

A partial that keeps its own shape, like a round icon, was cut off on its card in Your widgets, in the store and in the partial editor's plain tile. Previews now give it a tile tall enough to show all of it.

  2. v0.5.08 new4 improved1 fixed

    New

    • Your AI assistant can build and preview partials

An AI assistant connected to Tiledash can now build partials with parameters, try each state before saving, and give you a live preview link with a control for each parameter.

    • Arrange your sidebar

Choose Edit sidebar under your name to move dashboards, hide the ones you rarely open and hide pages such as the Store. Your widgets, Themes, Store and Energy settings now sit at the bottom of the sidebar. Recent and All dashboards left it; the switcher (⌘K) still finds every dashboard.

    • Give your partials parameters

Declare what a partial takes, such as an on/off switch, a number or a choice, each with a label and a default. The editor shows a control for each one, and widgets that render the partial are checked against them when you save.

    • Save with ⌘S in the editors

In the widget, partial and theme editors, ⌘S (Ctrl+S on Windows and Linux) saves, just like the Save button.

    • Choose a paired screen's theme from your account

In Links and screens, Theme… on a paired screen sets the theme and motion it wears, so you don't have to walk to the tablet. Set it back to the screen's own choice any time.

    • Group dashboards in the sidebar

In edit mode, make a group with a name and an icon and drag dashboards into it. Groups fold open and closed, and you can hide them too.

    • Share and install partials in the store

Publish a partial to the store and install other people's, then render one in your widgets by its store id. Its page lets you try its parameters first, and it can't be uninstalled while a widget of yours still uses it.

    • Preview and use themes from the Themes page

Click a theme to see the whole app in it, then use it on this device or on your dashboards. This screen… in the account menu is now called This device…, as the theme you choose there stays on the device you set it on.

    Improved

    • The widget editor keeps the sidebar, folded

The widget and partial editors no longer hide the sidebar: they fold it to its icons for room, and one click opens it again. Your own sidebar setting stays as it was.

    • Autocomplete for partials and their parameters

The widget editor suggests partial names, their parameters and fitting values as you type a render line. Hovering a render shows what the partial takes.

    • Partials ask for the tile's device

A partial now gets the tile's device only when it declares a device parameter, so it works in widgets without a device too, and the editor no longer previews every partial on a lamp. Partials you already have keep drawing as before.

    • Copying from the store says what a copy is for

Copy to my widgets and Copy to my themes now explain that a copy is yours to change, while installing uses the item as it is, with its updates, and offer to install instead.

    Fixed

    • The chosen look in Add widgets keeps its outline

When you picked a look for a widget in Add widgets, its highlight was cut off on one side. It now shows all the way round.

  3. v0.4.1

    Small fixes and improvements.

  4. v0.4.01 new8 fixed

    New

    • See what's new in Tiledash

Your account now has a What's new tab with the version of Tiledash you're on and what changed in each release, newest first. A dot tells you when there's something you haven't seen yet.

The same list is on tiledash.app/changelog, and AI assistants connected to your Tiledash can read it too.

    Fixed

    • Appliance tiles are named after their machine

An Appliance tile without a name said "Washing machine" in its header, even for a dryer or dishwasher. It now shows the machine you chose, or "Appliance" when you picked another icon.

    • Energy and price tiles fill in sooner after a hiccup

When today's energy or the electricity prices couldn't be loaded at first, for example while a wall panel was still connecting, their tiles stayed empty for five minutes. They now try again within seconds.

    • The page no longer scrolls behind the phone menu

On a phone, swiping in the open menu sometimes scrolled the page underneath instead. The page now stays put while the menu is open, and the menu scrolls on its own when it's longer than the screen.

    • Popups and side panels follow your Phone and Tablet layouts

A dashboard opened as a popup or side panel always showed its Desktop arrangement, including tiles you had hidden on Phone. A side panel now shows the Phone layout, and a popup shows the layout for its own width, with the same tiles hidden.

    • Publishing with a spaced tag shows what's wrong

Publishing to the store with a tag like "smoke alarm" did nothing and showed no error. Spaces in a tag now become dashes as you type, a tag the store won't take is marked with the reason, and any refused publish says why in the dialog.

    • Assistants can put your test device in a widget's settings

When an assistant drew one of your widgets with a test device and picked that device for a setting, the setting stayed empty or showed a sample device instead. It now shows your test device.

    • The theme editor's accent hint no longer mentions charts

The Accent colour in the theme editor said it also painted the first chart line, but it never did. The hint now lists what the accent really paints; chart lines are set on their own under All colours.

    • Looking at a widget in the picker no longer adds it

In the widget picker, clicking a device, flow or mood to see how it could look also ticked it, so it was added too. Clicking a row now only shows its looks. Tick its box, or pick a look, to add it.
