Custom tile

Your own tile: a title and any readings from any devices, as figures or rings.

Fits
Any dashboard: it isn’t tied to one device
Size
4 × 3 tiles, from 2 × 2 to 12 × 6

Use it when no ready-made tile shows what you want. Put readings from any of your devices on one tile: the temperature of a room next to the power of a plug, or a calculated value like what the house uses (grid plus solar minus battery). Each value shows as a number or as a ring, in a size and colour of your own.

The title and every value sit in one of nine spots on the tile, from top left to bottom right. On a short tile the small values go first, then the middle row. You can chart any of the values behind or below the figures, fold values into sections or tabs, and add pictures. A tap or a long press on the tile can open a dashboard or start a flow.

Options

Change these in the tile’s settings: Configure… on the tile in edit mode.

Text

The tile’s heading. Left empty, it says Custom tile.

Up to 40 characters

Icon

An icon

The icon beside the title.

Values

Values

The readings to show, up to six. Each value is one reading of any device, or several readings added and subtracted. Each has its own label, icon and colour, shows as a number or a ring, in a small, normal or big size, with the decimals you want, and sits in a spot of its own. A value can also take part in the chart, and have a tap of its own, such as opening the reading’s history. With more than one value, Quick layout places them all at once.

Layout

Layout

A layout

Fold values into sections that open and close, or into tabs you swipe between, and place pictures or icons anywhere on the tile (an icon, a picture of one of your devices, or one you upload). Values in a section or tab leave their spots, but stay in the chart. Up to six sections and tabs together, and three pictures.

Look

Show the title

On or off

Shows the title (and its icon). Turn it off for a tile that is only figures.

Default: On

Title position

A spot on the tile

Which of the nine spots the title sits in, picked on a small grid of the tile. Top left is the usual place.

Values in one spot

A choice

How values that share a spot sit together.

Default: Side by side

  • Side by side Default

Side by side, wrapping to the next line when they run out of room. Right for a few figures.

  • Grid

In even columns, each value the same width. Good when you have several in one spot and want them to line up.

  • List

One under the other, each with its label at the left and its figure at the right. Reads like a small table.

Chart

Chart

A choice

How the values you marked “In the chart” are drawn. Charting needs at least one value marked.

Default: Area

  • Area Default

A line with the space under it filled in. A calm picture of how a reading moves.

  • Line

Only the line, which keeps it clear when you chart several values.

  • Columns

Columns. Several values stand side by side. Good for totals per hour or per day.

  • Stacked

Columns that pile up on one another, so the height is the total. For example grid plus solar per hour.

  • Steps

A line that stays flat until the reading changes. Right for readings that jump, like a price or an on and off state.

Chart placement

A choice

Where the chart goes on the tile.

Default: Behind

  • Behind Default

Faintly behind the figures, filling the tile. Keeps the tile compact and the chart as atmosphere.

  • Below

A smaller chart below the figures, so you can read it properly.

Chart range

A choice

How much time the chart covers, from the last 6 hours to the last 30 days.

Default: 24 hours

  • 6 hours

    The last 6 hours.

  • 12 hours

    The last 12 hours.

  • 24 hours Default

The last day. The usual choice.

  • 7 days

    The last week.

  • 30 days

    The last 30 days.

Chart detail

A choice

How the chart groups the readings over time. Coarser groups give a calmer chart.

Default: Fine

  • Fine Default

As fine as suits the range you chose.

  • 15 min

One point for every 15 minutes.

  • Hourly

    One point for every hour.

  • Daily

One point for every day. For a week or a month of columns.

Smooth lines

On or off

Rounds the corners of the lines, which looks calmer. Turn it off to see exactly where the readings changed.

Default: On

Taps

The tile

What a tap does

What tapping the tile does. It can open a dashboard (as a page or a popup) or a flow. Until you choose, it does nothing.

Long press on the tile

What a tap does

What holding a finger on the tile does: open a dashboard or start a flow. Values with a tap of their own keep it.
